Spar is built to be private by default. There are no accounts, no advertising, no tracking across apps, and we never sell your data.
Your voice is transcribed on your device using Apple's speech recognition — audio recordings never leave your phone. Your résumé, job descriptions, STAR stories, practice history, scorecards, streaks, and settings are stored locally on your device.
When you practice with the cloud AI interviewer (Claude), the text transcript of the conversation — including relevant portions of any résumé or job description you added, which are used to tailor your questions — is sent through our server to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the interviewer's responses and your feedback. Per Anthropic's API terms, this data is not used to train AI models. When the premium neural voice is active, the interviewer's text (never your speech) is sent to Microsoft Azure to be turned into audio.
An anonymous device identifier (a random ID, not linked to your identity) with a ledger of free sessions used, subscription status, and daily usage counters for fair-use limits. We do not store your transcripts, résumé, scorecards, or any content of your practice sessions on our servers.
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We receive a signed confirmation of your subscription status from Apple — never your payment details.
We use Apple's DeviceCheck service to store two anonymous per-device flags (for example, "free sessions used") with Apple. These flags contain no personal information and cannot be used to identify or track you.
We use Anthropic (AI responses), Microsoft Azure (premium voice), Cloudflare (request routing), and Supabase (the anonymous device ledger). Each receives only what is described above.
Settings → "Delete all my data" permanently removes everything Spar stores about you, on the device and on our servers. Your subscription is managed by Apple and is unaffected.
Spar is a job-interview practice tool intended for users 16 and older. It is not directed at children.
If we materially change this policy, we will update it here with a new effective date.
