LeafWord Support

Welcome — and thank you for using LeafWord. We’re a small team (in fact, one developer), and we read every email.

Frequently asked questions

How does LeafWord pick the daily word?

A new word is generated each morning for your child’s age band by Apple Intelligence, on-device. We never use a server, and the word, meaning, and example sentence are written fresh on your iPad or iPhone — nothing is sent over the network.

My device says “Apple Intelligence not supported.” What can I do?

LeafWord uses on-device AI that requires Apple Intelligence. This is available on:

If your device isn’t on this list, LeafWord can’t generate today’s word. We’re sorry — Apple controls which devices support on-device AI.

How do I switch between my children’s profiles?

On iPad: tap the profile card at the top of the left sidebar — a sheet appears listing every child. Tap any profile to switch. Or tap “GOOD MORNING, [name]” in the header. On iPhone: tap “Good morning, [name]” at the top of the home screen.

How do streaks work?

Each morning, your child taps “I remembered” on yesterday’s word to add a new leaf to the weekly vine. Missing a day resets the streak — that’s expected, forgetting is part of learning.

Why is everything behind a math problem (parental gate)?

Settings, subscription management, and any external links are protected so a young child can’t change configuration or open links accidentally. Only an adult should be able to solve the math challenge.

How do I manage or cancel my Family Plus subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us:

  1. Open the iOS Settings app
  2. Tap your name (Apple ID) at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Select LeafWord to view, change plan, or cancel

Or, inside LeafWord: Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription. This opens Apple’s standard sheet.

Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Family Plus until the end of the current period.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled entirely by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Sign in with your Apple ID, find the LeafWord charge, and request the refund. We don’t process payments and can’t refund directly.

I accidentally cancelled — can I get my subscription back?

Yes. Open iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → LeafWord → Renew Subscription. If your previous period hasn’t ended, your access never lapsed.

How do I restore purchases on a new device?

Sign into the new device with the same Apple ID, install LeafWord, and on the paywall screen tap “Restore” in the footer. Your subscription will be detected automatically.

Family Sharing — can my partner / older kids access Family Plus?

Yes. Family Plus subscriptions are family-shareable through Apple’s Family Sharing. Set up Family Sharing on your Apple ID first; LeafWord’s subscription will then be available to family members at no extra cost.

How do I report a wrong word, meaning, or content concern?

Open Settings → Profiles → tap your child’s profile → tap the word card you want to report. The word will not appear again on that device.

For broader content concerns, email mrrmfamily2022@gmail.com with a screenshot if you can. We take this seriously — content quality is the whole point.

How do I delete my child’s data?

Everything stays on your device, so deletion is local and immediate:

To export the data first: Settings → Privacy & Data → Export data.

Why doesn’t LeafWord have ads or analytics?

Because it shouldn’t. The whole point of LeafWord is that your child’s vocabulary practice is private and calm. We made the deliberate choice to ship zero third-party SDKs — no analytics, no ad networks, no crash reporters. We rely entirely on the Family Plus subscription to fund development.

What if I have an idea for the app?

We’d love to hear it. Email mrrmfamily2022@gmail.com with your suggestion. Real product feedback from real parents shapes what we build next.
