NumBee Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 13, 2026

NumBee is a preschool math app designed for children ages 3–5 and their families. We take privacy seriously and comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines, and Apple’s Kids Category requirements. This policy explains what data NumBee handles, how, and why.

Summary (the short version)

Information NumBee Does NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any of the following:

There are no accounts to create, no login required, and no sign-up form.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

NumBee stores the following on your device only, using Apple’s SwiftData framework inside your app’s sandbox:

This data is never transmitted off your device by NumBee. Deleting the app removes all of it. You can also delete a profile’s data via Parent Zone → Settings → Delete Account Data.

Permissions NumBee Requests

The app may ask for the following permissions. Each is used only for the specific feature listed; nothing is recorded or transmitted by NumBee.

Permission Used for
Microphone Speech Practice — your child says a number aloud and gets on-device feedback. Audio is processed locally and not stored.
Speech Recognition Converts spoken numbers to text for learning feedback. Processing is handled by Apple’s on-device speech framework. NumBee does not access the raw audio.
Camera Optional — to scan an API key QR code (for the Voice Engine feature) or add a profile photo. We do not store, upload, or share images.
Photo Library Optional — to add a profile photo, or to save number-art creations the child makes. We never upload photos.

You can revoke any permission at any time via iOS Settings → NumBee. The features that depend on them simply won’t be available.

Voice Engine (Cloud Voices) — Optional, Bring-Your-Own-Key

NumBee includes an optional feature called Voice Engine (in Parent Zone → Settings → Voice Engine). By default, all spoken prompts use Apple’s built-in voice (system text-to-speech), which is processed on-device.

If a parent chooses to enable Cloud Voices, they must:

  1. Create their own account with a third-party voice service (currently ElevenLabs or Google Cloud Text-to-Speech).
  2. Enter their own API key into NumBee’s Voice Engine settings.

When Cloud Voices is enabled:

The API key is stored on your device only, in iOS Keychain. We do not transmit or back it up.

COPPA & Kids Category Compliance

NumBee is in the Apple App Store Kids Category. We:

In-App Purchases

NumBee offers one in-app purchase: NumBee Learning Premium — a single one-time purchase, no subscription. Apple’s StoreKit handles the entire transaction:

See Apple’s Privacy Policy for details on payment processing.

Internet Connectivity

NumBee’s core gameplay works fully offline. Internet is used only for:

Data Sharing

We do not share data with third parties. We do not use:

Security

Because we do not collect or transmit personal data, the primary security measure is keeping data local on your device. We recommend keeping iOS up to date and your device passcode-protected.

Your Rights

Because we do not collect personal information, there is no server-side data to access, correct, or delete. To remove your child’s learning data:

U.S. Privacy (California / CCPA-CPRA)

In addition to COPPA (covered above), and for California residents under the CCPA/CPRA: because NumBee does not collect, sell, share, or process personal information, the rights to know, access, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information are satisfied by design — we hold no personal information to disclose, sell, or share, and we do not process sensitive personal information. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect improvements or new legal requirements. The latest version will always be available at:

Material changes will also be summarized in the app’s release notes on the App Store.
