Privacy Policy for BigSight

BigSight (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is a vision accessibility app designed to help users read text, scan documents, and stay safe. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and your choices.
- BigSight does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers.
- BigSight does not use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
- BigSight does not share your data with third parties.
- All data processing (text recognition, image scanning, speech synthesis) happens entirely on your device.
2. Device Permissions
BigSight requests the following device permissions only when needed for specific features. You can revoke any permission at any time in your device’s Settings.
Camera
- Used for: Read Text (Magnifier), Reading Lens, Scan Medicine, Scan Document, Scan Handwriting, Scan Barcode, Read Bill, Identify Money, Check Expiry, Identify Color.
- How: Camera frames are processed on-device using Apple’s Vision framework for text recognition. Images are never uploaded or transmitted.
Microphone
- Used for: Voice Commands (hands-free voice control).
- How: Audio is processed on-device using Apple’s Speech Recognition framework. Audio is not recorded or stored.
Speech Recognition
- Used for: Voice Commands feature.
- How: Recognized speech is used solely to execute in-app commands. Apple’s on-device speech recognition is used where available.
- Used for: Emergency Contacts feature (selecting contacts for emergency calls and daily check-ins).
- How: Contact data is read only when you select a contact. Contact information is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted.
Location
- Used for: Emergency feature (sharing your location with emergency contacts).
- How: Location is accessed only when you explicitly trigger the emergency location sharing. Location data is not stored or transmitted to our servers.
Notifications
- Used for: Daily Check-in reminders, Medication reminders.
- How: Notifications are scheduled locally on your device using Apple’s notification system.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
BigSight stores the following data locally on your device only using Apple’s SwiftData framework:
- App Settings: Font size, speech rate, contrast preferences, accessibility preferences.
- Emergency Contacts: Name, phone number, and relationship of contacts you add.
- Medical ID: Blood type, allergies, medications, conditions, and emergency notes you enter.
- Scanned Documents: Document images and recognized text you choose to save.
- Medication Records: Medicine names, dosages, instructions, and reminder settings.
- Handwriting Records: Recognized text and captured images of handwritten notes you save.
- Bill Records: Recognized bill text, amounts, and due dates you save.
- Currency Records: Identified denominations you save.
- Expiry Date Records: Product expiry dates you save.
All of this data remains on your device. It is not backed up to any server operated by us. It may be included in your iCloud or device backups according to your Apple backup settings.
4. In-App Purchases
BigSight offers a premium subscription managed entirely through Apple’s App Store. We do not process or store any payment information. All transactions are handled by Apple. Please refer to Apple’s Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles payment data.
5. Children’s Privacy
BigSight does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation and stores all data locally on the device.
6. Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by:
- Deleting individual records within the app (scan history, medication records, etc.).
- Deleting the app from your device, which removes all associated data.
7. Third-Party Services
BigSight does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services. The only third-party service involved is Apple’s App Store for processing in-app purchases.
8. Security
All data is stored locally on your device and is protected by your device’s built-in security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). We do not transmit data over the internet, so there is no risk of data interception during transmission.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
